There’s nothing quite as engaging as play. It’s one thing to look at a picture of a place, but to be able to enter that picture and explore around that place is much more compelling.

Better still is the ability to redesign that place at a whim, to see how your changes affect the experience of moving through it; to play with it and see what happens. Play makes observation active, and thus far more engaging.

The very serious business of the design of better places and how we move through them can only benefit from this kind of engagement.
